I'm all for unbiased, which is the reason I chose to deal with the issue the way I did. It's only unbiased if people know both sides of the story. For two years, people only knew one side. People have to be willing to work with each other in a professional sense, not only work with someone in the way they only want to be working with. It's a model that doesn't work.

A lot of people who have been attacked work their tails off, only to be fired upon when they are in Martin's way. That's not how this sport needs to be treated. Treat the sport, and those in it, with dignity and respect and have a reverence for what we, as media professionals, journalists, press agents, etc., do, then you'll find we'd be on the same page.

It should have never come to this, but some people just don't want to listen. I'll defend my stance until I'm blue in the face. Just because I'm the only one talking about it, doesn't mean I'm the only one who thinks that way. But that also stands for the other side of the coin.

The best way to handle things, at least to me in my experience, is to treat people with respect and be honest. When that doesn't happen, pissing contests like this start with no winner.

Thanks for the comments,
JB

I guess you missed all the parts where I've said time and time again I've tried to offer advice to help. I wrote this nearly a year ago. I was sick and tired of taking attack after attack, so I told the wrestling community what they didn't want to hear.

If you conduct yourself as a professional, you'd find you get more accomplished. But trying to argue with someone who will not see the other side of the coin has proved to be pointless in this case.

This was the "final" resort. We've had many conversations about working things out, but if you try to get in the way of his business plan, he'll rip you. What isn't thinly veiled is how he's treated people in the wrestling community who have poured their life into this sport. I'm not trying to get rich off of wrestling. For two and a half years, I was publicly quiet and tried to handle the situation one-to-one. Listen to the voicemail again. Tell me that's how you'd want to be treated by a "media contemporary."

There's no defense for it. I spoke the truth and if people don't like it, so be it.

it sounds as if you are constantly finding some way to tell martin that flo is not a real media outlet. i dont how many times i read that in your blog in one fashion or another. maybe if you would stop taking that angle with him you'd get further, and possibly get him to listen to your suggestions. all i read was you taking thinly veiled shots at him.

I agree with your assessment of the Michael Vick situation. If he was not in a correctional facility then don't say he was. Change the name to punishment facility. We do have some strange penalties for crimes when someone gets a more serious punishment than another who actually directly caused the death of another human being. I like dogs and Vick is guilty, but a lot of PETA people would do anything out of respect for any animal,(like a fly that is known to have vectored serious health disasters), while turning their back on people who they could easily help in one way or another. It just does not make sense.

Great insights, Jason. I'm a former college wrestler pretty devoted to, yet not mastering golf. A few years ago, I did the same as you, but entering a lottery for the privilege of paying too much money for Ryder Cup tickets (coincidentally, also sponsored by the PGA) at my nearby Oakland Hills Country Club. I won 4 tickets and it was a great, memorable time; we all still talk about the event. Nice summary.
