Quick Update from the world of JB

It’s been pretty hectic the last week. I’m constantly complaining about the cold weather, but it’s Minnesota, I knew what I was getting into when I moved here. So basically, I’ll have to get over it.

I returned from Las Vegas with a lighter wallet and relaxed back muscles. The tables didn’t treat me well, but the massage (legitimate one people, get your mind out of the gutter) was quite good.

The wrestling was great. Some really solid competition all throughout the tournament. I personally thought Corey Jantzen of Harvard should have been the Outstanding Wrestler, but it went to a very game Jordan Burroughs at 157. The Nebraska junior beat returning NCAA Champion Jordan Leen of Cornell in a very exciting final.

I spent about 10 hours working on last night’s show on Wrestling411, which you can see at There’s a complete finals highlight reel during the first commercial break.

Mark Manning was a great guest, too. Congrats on the birth of the newest addition to the family.

I’m doing really well with my weight, as I’m now at 254, which matches my low since passing the 250-mark over 10 years ago. The weather has hampered some of the outdoor running, so I’ve taken my shoes and sweats on the road with me. I got quite a bit of distance walking around Vegas, mainly to and from the room to the venue, but I did some exploring.

I explored that I can draw more 12’s in blackjack than any other human in a 20-minute time span.

I’m sitting here watching School for Scoundrels dealing with a wicked chest cold. I could have used some sleep, but I’m going on two hours of sleep in the last 48 hours. Live and learn.

I’m also the proud owner of a new macbook pro. This thing is freakin’ sweet.

Other highlights: Had a beer with one of the guys from Brooks & Dunn, sat next to Louie Anderson on the flight home and didn’t get stuck in the Vegas airport like Virginia Tech did.

Inside Joke of the Tournament: “Dan Henderson” and “Adams State.”
